Capex can make sense when usage is stable, infrastructure has a long life, and the company has the competence to operate it. Opex gains strength when demand varies, updates are frequent, and keeping everything internal creates too much risk.

What to compare

Compare total cost, not the monthly line. Include acquisition, implementation, support, energy, licenses, security, backup, replacement, staffing, downtime, and exit cost. An option that looks cheap this month can become expensive when it blocks scale.
