Brazil's postal service raises shipping rates starting April 12

The adjustment follows 2025's accumulated inflation of 4.26% — smaller than in previous years. Still, anyone selling with shipping baked into the price needs to recalculate before margin quietly shrinks.

Brazil's postal service raises shipping rates

The adjustment that already has a fixed date

Starting April 12, 2026, Brazil's postal service (Correios) applies a new price adjustment to domestic parcel services — PAC, Sedex, Sedex 10, Sedex 12, and Sedex Hoje — following accumulated inflation (IPCA) from January to December 2025, of 4.26%. It's a smaller increase than in previous years, but still an added cost for anyone shipping high volume.

The change also unifies the Large Format Additional Service and the Special Handling Fee, which now both cost R$11.19 — a simplification that can raise or lower cost depending on what the business used before.

Why it hits harder for anyone bundling shipping into price

A store offering "free shipping" or a flat shipping rate baked into the product price absorbs the adjustment directly out of margin, without passing it to the customer — unless it reviews the calculation before the 12th. Businesses that calculate shipping at checkout feel this less, since the amount automatically reflects the updated table.

What to review before the 12th

Three things help you adjust: recalculate the shipping cost baked into your best-selling products' prices, using the new table, not the old one. Then check whether the Special Handling Fee or Large Format Additional Service affects any specific product in your store, since both now cost the same unified amount. And evaluate whether it's worth comparing against a private carrier for part of your volume, especially in regions where the postal service isn't the cheapest option.
